Pieces & Word Counts
Have I mentioned how much this book does not want to be written in order? *headdesk*
Anyway, I got a good chunk of a scene down tonight-- it will probably be cut way down for insertion into the actual manuscript, but I'm fine with it meandering for now. Especially knowing it's just a "scene" and not a "chapter"-- for some reason that makes a big difference in what I feel I can let myself do. Plus I feel like it's attempting to tell me something pretty important about the story, so I'm going with it.
Today's work brings my total words for June to 37,916*
I kinda want to throw myself at July. My usual goal is 30,000 words/month (with some exceptions), so I kinda want to up that, but I also don't want to make myself insane. So... Let's try for 40,000 in July, shall we? Or, how about 40,000 words or the end of the manuscript**, whichever comes first?

I've been writing my current novel all out of order too. It works for me even though I outline because the out of order scenes often make other aspects of the novel evolve.
The out-of-orderness has definitely been helpful for figuring out what happens in other parts of the book. And it's from the really random stuff, too, like off-hand comments the characters make. Can be weird, but so fun :)
You are superwoman with that wordcount.
Mine for June is sad. Like, maybe 11,000 words. But they are words I like. And I'm at 55K now in Thrice so...if I can really focus, I think I might still be able to finish in July? I'm thinking it'll be 75Kish. There, I said it. I will finish this book in July.

Yay for 55k in Thrice! I was wondering about that earlier tonight. & as long as they are words you like, that's what matters, right? :)
Also yay for trying to finish books in July! I would say 'wanna race' but that will basically guarantee that I don't finish this month! hehe
I'm with Jess, that word count is amazing! I'll take you as my inspiration once I start the Dark Girl's Hunter for good.
