Marna Durant is both Night and Darling, the product of an illegal marriage that left her an orphan. Always trying to be a good Night, Marna goes after a foreigner who enters the woods, trying to save him from what she thinks is his own idiocy. After learning he intended to defect to Darlington, Marna becomes entwined in political intrigue and personal issues, learning some monsters wear very human faces.

When she tries to protect David after he’s chased down by a rogue werewolf, D’s life is made more complicated by mysterious fae beings, high schoolers and a six-year-old psychic.
